Bakelaar, Scozzari Each Shoot 77s to Lead Pioneers

Jim Bakelaar had his best round as a Pioneer, shooting 77 (+5) during a victory against Purchase.

HAMBURG, N.J. – Seniors Jim Bakelaar (Midland Park, N.J./Midland Park) and Matt Scozzari (Kinnelon, N.J./Kinnelon) each posted five-over 77s to lead the William Paterson men's golf team (1-0) to a 328-255 victory against Purchase (0-1) Oct. 20 at Black Bear Golf Course in Hamburg, N.J.

Freshman Erich Gentile (North Haledon, N.J./Paramus Catholic) was fourth overall with an 86 (+14). Senior Paul Link (Wayne, N.J./Hazleton, Pa.) posted an 88 (+16) to tie for fifth, and freshman Rob Thomson (Kinnelon, N.J./Kinnelon) tied for seventh with an 89 (+17).

Senior Jonas Borra led Purchase with a nine-over 81 to place third overall.
