Men’s Soccer Defeats St. Joseph’s-Long Island

Pioneers Use Candelieri, Maddolin Goals for 2-0 Victory

Senior Domenick Candelieri scored his fifth goal of the season during a 2-0 victory at St. Joseph's-Long Island.

MEDFORD, N.Y. – Seniors Domenick Candelieri (Pennsauken, N.J./Pennsauken) and Joe Maddolin (Dumont, N.J./Dumont) each scored their fifth goals of the season to hand William Paterson (11-3-2) a 2-0 men's soccer victory at St. Joseph's-Long Island (10-7) Oct. 18.

Maddolin struck first, knocking an Anthony Ferrer (Lake Hiawatha, N.J./Parsippany) cross above the keeper to put the Pioneers on the scoreboard in the seventh minute.

Candelieri added an insurance goal in the 48th minute, deflecting in Dan Patton's (Pennsauken, N.J./Pennsauken) pass. WP owned an 18-7 shot advantage and a 7-2 edge in corner kicks.

Pioneer keeper Zach Collins (Bayville, N.J./Central Regional) made one stop, and Chris Muhs had eight stops for the Golden Eagles.

William Paterson will play at Rutgers-Newark Saturday, Oct. 22, at 7:30 p.m.
