MAHWAH, N.J. – William Paterson (3-13, 1-4 NJAC) suffered a 4-2 field hockey loss at Ramapo (9-5, 1-4 NJAC) Oct. 18.
Sophomore
Jaclyn Bertos (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls) scored the first goal for the Pioneers, finding the back of the cage 1:14 into the game off a pass from classmate
Jessica Nendze (West Milford, N.J./West Milford). The Roadrunners were awarded a penalty stroke, and Jayne Manigrasso stepped to the line and fired a shot past the goalie to knot the score at 1-1 in the 19th minute of play.
Manigrasso posted her second goal of the game on a breakaway, her 10th goal of the season to hand Ramapo a 2-1 lead 20:01 into the contest. The Roadrunners would never trail again as Katie Bruno posted her ninth goal of the year off a rebound to extend the lead, 3-1, in the 25th minute. Manigrasso ran down a loose ball on the end line before passing it to Victoria Ahlers, who hit the back of the cage for the 4-1 lead less than two minutes later.
WP scored again at the 56:09 mark, when freshman
Lauren Boegly (West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford) teamed up with junior
Ally Hartman (Pemberton, N.J./Pemberton Twp.) for Boegly's fifth goal of the season.
Rebecca Elliott posted nine saves in the complete game for Ramapo, while
Meghan Trivett (Highlands, N.J./Middletown North) and
Kellye Statz (Robbinsville, N.J./Robbinsville) combined for six saves for WP.
William Paterson will host Susquehanna Saturday, Oct. 22, at 3:00 p.m.
