WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson field hockey team could not overcome a pair of early goals as the Pioneers (3-12, 1-3 NJAC) lost, 3-0, to No. 16 Rowan (10-5, 3-1 NJAC) Oct. 15.
Rowan grabbed an early lead 9:30 into the game when senior Janice Camlin scored her second goal of the season from the right side of the circle. Junior Erin Bernat extended the Profs' lead just over a minute later when she scored off a pass from senior Brittany Phillips.
William Paterson's best scoring opportunity in the first half came when sophomore
Jessica Nendze (West Milford, N.J./West Milford) got behind the last Prof defender and rang a shot of the post.
Phillips added to the Profs' lead with less than two minutes remaining in the game off a pass from senior Lauren Connor. Junior
Ally Hartman (Pemberton, N.J./Pemberton Twp.) and Nendze led William Paterson with two shots each.
Jen Goldberg earned the victory in the cage for the Profs, collecting two saves, while sophomore
Kellye Statz (Robbinsville, N.J./Robbinsville) made 10 saves for the Pioneers.
William Paterson will visit Ramapo Tuesday, Oct. 18, at 4:00 p.m.
