BOX SCORE

WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson women's soccer team (3-7) used goals from three different players to upend St. Joseph's-Long Island (7-5-1), 4-1, Oct. 10 at Pioneer Soccer Park.

The Pioneers scored twice during an 81-second span.  Senior Sophie Hart-Ruderman (Maplewood, N.J./Columbia) got things started when she one-timed a ball from the middle of the box after junior Michelle Marabondo (Kenvil, N.J./Roxbury) sent her a pass from the left corner flag.  Hart-Ruderman blasted the ball to the upper-left corner, her first goal of the season, during the 20th minute.

Senior Heidi Rogers (River Vale, N.J./Pascack Valley Regional) netted her first goal of the year less than two minutes later, as junior Laela Brock (Paramus, N.J./Paramus) crossed a ball to the left post that sophomore Sheray Anthony (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West) hit off the underside of the crossbar.  Rogers cleaned up the loose ball to hand the Pioneers a 2-0 advantage.

The Golden Eagles cut that lead in half during the 29th minute, as Samantha Garcia finished a rebound of a Kaitlin Arthurs shot.

Senior Megan Droelle (Hampton, N.J./North Hunterdon) was knocked down in the box, and Marabondo stepped to the spot and converted the penalty kick with 8:44 left in the first half.  In the 71st minute, it was Marabondo who was fouled in the penalty area, and she knocked in her second PK of the day and her 13th goal of the season for a 4-1 Pioneer edge.

Sophomore Alyssa Falduto (Nutley, N.J./Nutley) made one save for WP, and Michelle Gulino had four stops and Kayle Flowers one for St. Joseph's-Long Island.

William Paterson will play at Rutgers-Camden Saturday, Oct. 15, at 3:00 p.m.
