Women's Soccer Suffers 3-0 Setback

Pioneers Lose NJAC Clash at Rowan

GLASSBORO, N.J. – Two scores during the first 24 minutes helped propel host Rowan (5-3, 4-0 NJAC) to a 3-0 New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) women's soccer victory against William Paterson (2-5, 1-4 NJAC) Oct. 1.

Veronica Rhea started the scoring at the 13:52 mark, beating William Paterson goalkeeper Alyssa Falduto (Nutley, N.J./Nutley) after the ball was cleared from the back.  Forward Erika Suhl assisted on the goal.

Dayna Sakalsky scored the second on a corner kick with a shot to the lower-left corner of the net in the 24th minute.  Midfielder Nina Fragoso took the corner and back Miranda Donnian passed the ball to Sakalsky.

Sakalsky knocked in a header at the 70:59 mark from midfielder Christine Fink for the final goal.  Rowan accumulated 15 total shots, while William Paterson had four.

Rowan goalkeeper Lyndsie Bernardini made three saves for her second shutout.  Falduto finished with five saves.

William Paterson will play NYU Tuesday, Oct. 4, at 9:00 p.m. at Gaelic Park (Riverdale, N.Y.).
