Box Score

EWING, N.J. – William Paterson (2-6, 0-1 NJAC) opened its New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) field hockey schedule with a 5-0 loss at No. 12 The College of New Jersey (7-2, 1-0 NJAC) Sept. 25.

Leigh Mitchell's first goal of the game turned out to be the game winner as she blasted a shot through traffic after taking an insert on a penalty corner from sophomore Camille Passucci. That goal came 11:31 into the contest.

TCNJ doubled that lead late in the half as sophomore Caitlyn Jenkins picked up her first score of the season off an assist from sophomore Kathleen Notos. Jenkins factored in on TCNJ's next goal, which came 5:20 into the new half, as she garnered an assist on a goal by Passucci. Mitchell then finished off the Pioneers with two final goals to close out the scoring. Those three goals doubled her season total as she now leads the team with six tallies.

Junior goalie Shannon Syciarz finished with three saves as she collected her third shutout of the season. In goal for the Pioneers, junior Meghan Trivett (Highlands, N.J./Middletown North) had 10 saves.

William Paterson will host Kean Tuesday, Sept. 28, at 7:00 p.m.
