Box Score

WILKES-BARRE, PA. – Freshman Jacqui Giammetta (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Hills) and senior Amanda Sheehan (Boonton, N.J./Boonton) both found the back of the cage during the first half, helping to lead William Paterson (2-5) to a 2-1 field hockey victory at Wilkes (4-2) Sept. 21.

Giammetta scored her first career goal off an assist from classmate Jaclyn Bertos (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls) in the 29th minute, then provided the assist on Sheehan's goal three minutes later. The Pioneers carried the 2-0 advantage into the second half, but Kaitlyn Bevans cut that lead in half with a penalty-corner goal during the 43rd minute. William Paterson, the owner of an 18-9 edge in shots, held off the Colonels from there for the victory.

Junior Meghan Trivett (Highlands, N.J./Middletown North) made three saves for the Pioneers, and Lindsey Davenport had eight for Wilkes.

William Paterson will play at No. 12 The College of New Jersey Saturday, Sept. 25, at 1:00 p.m.
