Rella's Goal Lifts Field Hockey Past Ramapo

Pioneers Defeat Visiting Roadrunners, 1-0

Sophomore Kelsey Rella's goal was the difference in a 1-0 victory against Ramapo.

WAYNE, N.J. – Sophomore Kelsey Rella's (Mt. Laurel, N.J./Lenape) goal in the 45th minute lifted William Paterson (5-13, 2-3 NJAC) past visiting Ramapo (8-10, 0-5 NJAC), 1-0, Nov. 1.

The two teams were scoreless in the first half, thanks in part to defensive saves from the Pioneers' Mary O'Connor (Ramsey, N.J./Ramsey) and the Roadrunners' Christine Lafferty. Rella then capitalized on the best William Paterson chance of the night, redirecting at the right post an Amanda Sheehan (Boonton, N.J./Boonton) pass from the left side of the circle.

Junior goalie Meghan Trivett (Highlands, N.J./Middletown North) made 10 saves, while O'Connor finished with a pair of defensive saves for the Pioneers. Sophomore Rebecca Elliott had two stops for Ramapo.

William Paterson will celebrate Senior Night Friday, Nov. 5, when the Pioneers host Montclair State at 7:00 p.m.
