Box Score

WAYNE, N.J. – In a match with few scoring opportunities, both William Paterson (7-2-3) and NYU (5-5-2) were able to find the back of the net once, settling for a 1-1 double-overtime tie in women's soccer action Oct. 6 at Pioneer Soccer Park.

Neither team had a quality chance until the 38th minute, when sophomore Sophie Hart-Ruderman (Maplewood, N.J./Columbia) dropped a ball off to Michelle Marabondo (Kenvil, N.J./Roxbury) on the right wing, and she blasted it to the short side of the goal. For Marabondo, it was her team-leading seventh goal of the season, and her fifth in the last six matches.

That score held up until 10 minutes into the second half, when Jane Barrett headed a ball to Serra Tumay , who fooled Alyssa Falduto (Nutley, N.J./Nutley) with a long ball from the left wing that found the right side of the net.

Falduto finished with three saves for the Pioneers, and junior Rachael Ross had six for the Violets. The contest was a re-match of the 2009 ECAC Mid-Atlantic Tournament final, a meeting the Pioneers won in overtime, 2-1.

William Paterson will enjoy a week off, returning to action Wednesday, Oct. 13, at No. 2 The College of New Jersey at 7:30 p.m.
