Men's Soccer Strikes Early for 2-0 Win against St. Joseph's-Long Island

Ferrer, Lowe Each Contribute a Goal and Assist

Freshman Mike Lowe contributed an assist and his eighth goal of the season to a 2-0 victory against St. Joseph's-Long Island.

WAYNE, N.J. – Junior Anthony Ferrer (Lake Hiawatha, N.J./Parsippany) and freshman Mike Lowe (Wilmington, Del./Alexis I. duPont) each contributed a goal and an assist as the William Paterson men's soccer team (10-3-2) scored twice in the first 28 minutes for a 2-0 victory against St. Joseph's-Long Island (9-7-1) Oct. 19.

Ferrer punched in Lowe's cross from the right side, finishing to the left corner of the goal in the seventh minute. Ferrer then returned the favor less than 21 minutes later, flighting a ball in from the left that Lowe scored for his team-leading eighth goal of the season.

William Paterson enjoyed a 21-10 advantage in shots against the Golden Eagles, including a 14-4 edge during the first half. Junior keeper Zach Collins (Bayville, N.J./Central Regional) had one first-half save for the Pioneers and junior Sam Gerais (Dumont, N.J./Dumont) played the final 45:00. Chris Muhs made four stops for St. Joseph's-Long Island. 

The Pioneers will host Lehman Thursday, Oct. 21, at 7:00 p.m.
