RADNOR, PA. – Widener found the back of the net in the 12th minute and that goal held up as the Pride (3-0) defeated William Paterson (1-2) by a 1-0 score Sept. 5 at the Cabrini College Soccer Festival.

Brittany Balentine took advantage of a loose ball in front of the net and knocked it in 11:42 into the match for the lone goal of the day. Widener out-shot William Paterson by a 7-4 count, and each team had one corner kick.

Senior Meaghan Baker (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls) had three saves for the Pioneers, while Alee Gunter and Vanessa Hejnas each made two saves in 45:00 of action for Widener.

The Pioneers will return to action Wednesday, Sept. 9, with a home match against St. Joseph's-Long Island at 7:00 p.m.
