Women's Soccer Loses at No. 23 Rowan

Pioneers Fall to Host Profs, 2-0

Senior Meaghan Baker had eight stops against No. 23 Rowan.

GLASSBORO, N.J. – No. 23 Rowan (6-1-1, 3-0 NJAC) secured a 2-0 women's soccer victory against visiting William Paterson (3-4-2, 1-1-1 NJAC) Sept. 26.

Profs forward Jess Babice recorded a goal and an assist, and forward Veronica Rhea added a goal. Rowan took 22 shots, while William Paterson had three. RU goalkeeper Sarah Volkomer made two saves for her third shutout, and Pioneer goalkeeper Meaghan Baker (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls) stopped eight shots.

After a scoreless first half, Babice put Rowan ahead 1-0 with an unassisted goal at the 45:31 mark. Rhea found the back of the net in the 61st minute when Babice took a shot and Rhea knocked in the rebound.

William Paterson will host Rutgers-Newark Wednesday, Sept. 30, at 4:00 p.m.
