WAYNE, N.J. – Field hockey junior back Melissa Szeliga (South Plainfield, N.J./South Plainfield) was named the William Paterson Pioneer of the Week Sept. 21.

Szeliga helped organize the Pioneers' defensive effort in a 2-1 victory at FDU-Florham Sept. 15 before scoring her first goal of the year and recording a defensive save during a 2-1 loss to No. 10 Rowan Sept. 19. Her successful first-half penalty stroke tied the game at 1-1 against the Profs.
