EWING, N.J. – William Paterson (7-4-5, 1-2-4 NJAC) rallied but could not overcome The College of New Jersey (6-4-4, 4-1-2 NJAC) in a 2-1 men's soccer contest Oct. 21. 
Senior Kevin Luber connected with classmate Anthony Staropoli on a restart at the 62:38 mark as Staropoli's headball winner gave the Lions a 1-0 lead. Just over 10 minutes later, Luber hit Dan Constants with a pass and the sophomore drilled a shot from 20 yards out into the right corner of the net for his first collegiate goal. 
The Pioneers fought back to cut the lead in half as junior 
Julian Valerio (Manalapan, N.J./Manalapan) headed in a corner kick from 
Jonathan Donado (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) with 6:02 remaining in the match. But, the Lions' defense was able to deny William Paterson the equalizer. 
Adam Friedman stopped four Pioneer shots for his fourth win of the season. The freshman goalkeeper made an excellent save early in the second half when the score was still tied 0-0 when dove to his right to stop a bullet off the foot of Valerio from 18 yards out. Senior 
Dan Peragallo (North Brunswick, N.J./North Brunswick) had three saves for William Paterson. 
William Paterson will play at No. 10 Montclair State Saturday, Oct. 24, at 6:00 p.m.
