Men's Soccer Easily Defeats St. Joseph's-Long Island, 5-1

Five Different Pioneers Score in Victory

Five different Pioneers scored during a 5-1 victory at St. Joseph's-Long Island.

CENTERREACH, N.Y. – Five different goal scorers found the back of the net as William Paterson (7-3-5) defeated St. Joseph's-Long Island (7-8), 5-1, Oct. 20.

Senior Jonathan Donado (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) wasted no time getting the Pioneers on the scoreboard, knocking in from the top of the box a pass from Julian Valerio (Manalapan, N.J./Manalapan) just 67 seconds into the contest. Valerio assisted on the next two goals as well, the first a through ball that was converted by Anthony Ferrer (Lake Hiawatha, N.J./Parsippany) in the 19th minute, and after a penalty-kick goal for the Golden Eagles in the 38th minute, another through ball that Ambrogio Pipitone (Paramus, N.J./Paramus) got on the end of for a 3-1 lead in the 61st minute.

Sophomore Joe Maddolin (Dumont, N.J./Dumont) volleyed in a Marcus Rouse (Rahway, N.J./Rahway) cross for a 4-1 edge at the 85:55 mark, and freshman Kevin Bzdek (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) finished off the scoring with 3:03 remaining off an assist by Maddolin.

William Paterson out-shot St. Joseph's-Long Island by a 25-7 count. Senior Dan Peragallo (North Brunswick, N.J./North Brunswick) and sophomore Sam Gerais (Dumont, N.J./Dumont) shared goalkeeping duties for the Pioneers. Peter Ryan had 12 saves for the Golden Eagles.

William Paterson will play at The College of New Jersey Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 7:30 p.m.
