Box Score

MAHWAH, N.J. -- William Paterson (8-7, 1-2 NJAC) twice fought back to tie the contest before senior Lauren Frazier (Glassboro, N.J./Glassboro) scored the game winner in a 3-2 field hockey victory at Ramapo (6-7, 1-2 NJAC) Oct. 20.

The Roadrunners opened the scoring in the first half with a goal just over four minutes in when sophomore Jayne Manigrasso converted a pass from classmate Rebecca Penhaker. Manigrasso's goal was her 15th of the year.

The lead was short lived after the Pioneers were awarded a penalty stroke at the 13:55 mark, one that was put away by junior Melissa Szeliga (South Plainfield, N.J./South Plainfield) to tie the game at 1-1.

Manigrasso struck again less than a minute later with an unassisted goal, pushing Ramapo back on top. However, in the 21st minute, senior Christina Ayusa (Runnemede, N.J./Triton) hit the back of the cage for her eighth goal of the season, this one off a pass from Amanda Sheehan (Boonton, N.J./Boonton), to once again knot the score.

Ramapo had one more opportunity before the intermission when the Roadrunners were awarded a penalty stroke with 12 minutes to play, but senior goalie Christina Auger (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley), denied the shot from sophomore defender Megan Boise. Frazier added the game winner 3:03 into the second half, scoring off an assist from senior Chelsea Winkelspecht (Sicklerville, N.J./Washington Twp.).

Auger finished with 14 saves for the Pioneers, while Rebecca Elliot had eight for Ramapo.

William Paterson will celebrate Senior Night and host Richard Stockton Thursday, Oct. 22, at 7:30 p.m.
