Box Score

EWING, N.J. – No. 3 The College of New Jersey (6-1, 1-0 NJAC) used a hat trick by Kendra Boyd to earn a 5-1 victory against visiting William Paterson (6-3, 0-2 NJAC) in New Jersey Athletic Conference field hockey play Sept. 26.

Boyd staked the Lions to an early 2-0 lead with goals in the fifth and seventh minutes before Pioneer senior Meghan Hall (Turnersville, N.J./Washington Twp.) cut that advantage in half in the 18th minute with her 11th goal of the year, a score assisted by junior Christina Ayusa (Runnemede, N.J./Triton).

TCNJ's offense got on the board twice in the opening minutes of the second half as sophomore Leigh Mitchell scored unassisted before Boyd completed the hat trick on an assist from Kelly Mitchell. Those goals came 2:47 and 4:56, respectively, into the new period. Senior Katie Reuther closed out the scoring late in the game, teeing up a shot off of a penalty corner that was inserted by Boyd.

In goal for the Pioneers, junior Christina Auger (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) collected eight saves. The Pioneers also received defensive saves from Meghan Bardeer (Westampton, N.J./Rancocas Valley Regional) and Jennie Hara (Sewell, N.J./Washington Twp.).

William Paterson will next play Tuesday, Sept. 30, at home against Alvernia at 7:00 p.m.
