Women's Soccer Responds for 3-2 Road Victory

Pioneers Defeat St. Joseph's-Long Island

MOUNT SINAI, N.Y. – Despite squandering a 2-0 lead, the William Paterson women's soccer team (3-0) responded and scored the game winner two minutes into the second half to earn a 3-2 win at St. Joseph's-Long Island (1-3) Sept. 10.

Senior Amanda Kurdyla (Denville, N.J./Morris Knolls) gave the Pioneers an early two-goal edge, finishing a Samantha Flynn (Lindenwold, N.J./Lindenwold) pass in the 16th minute and an Ali Ruddy (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) assist in the 29th minute.

However, the Golden Eagles fought back, scoring two unanswered goals in the 35th and 41st minutes to tie the score. Sophomore Vikki Cicak (Wharton, N.J./Morris Knolls) had an answer for William Paterson, scoring the game winner off an assist by Kurdyla 1:55 into the second period. 

Senior Caitlin Kiernan (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Hills) played the first half in goal for WP, while junior Meaghan Baker (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls) played the final 45:00.

William Paterson will finish its two-match road swing Saturday, Sept. 13, at Immaculata at 2:00 p.m.
