BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Three different Pioneers found the back of the goal to lead the William Paterson men's soccer team (2-0) to a 3-1 victory at Moravian (1-1) Aug. 30 in the finale of the Muhlenberg/Moravian Tournament.

Freshman Hussein Jaafar (North Bergen, N.J./Cliffside Park) got things started for the Pioneers in the 19th minute, connecting on a Julian Valerio (Manalapan, N.J./Manalapan) pass for a 1-0 edge. Sophomore Joe Strawman (Ringoes, N.J./Hunterdon Central) made it a 2-0 score in the 59th minute, again off a Valerio assist, and classmate Daniel Sanchez (Prospect Park, N.J./Manchester Regional) finished the WP scoring in the 89th minute, deflecting a shot off a defender and into the netting. Moravian scored its lone goal of the day during the match's final 35 seconds.

Junior Dan Peragallo (North Brunswick, N.J./North Brunswick) needed to make just one save to pick up the victory (2-0), as William Paterson outshot the host 23-10.

The Pioneers will return to action Wednesday, Sept. 3, at Baruch at 6:00 p.m.
