WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson women's swimming and diving team (9-1) turned in several outstanding performances to defeat Division II Adelphi (4-4) 124-99 Dec. 13 at Wightman Pool.
Senior
Grace McKay (Fair Lawn, N.J./Fair Lawn) was the performer of the meet for the Pioneers, winning the 200 free in a time of 2:03.51, and the 200 back in a time of 2:18.01. Classmate
Cathy Hartwell (Toms River, N.J./Toms River East) touched first in both the 50 (25.40) and 100 (56.20) frees, while freshman
Brett Kuchin (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) had her best time of the year to win the 200 breast (2:41.70). Junior
Giana Albruzzese (Parsippany, N.J./Parsippany) finished first in the one-meter (154.20) and three-meter (155.92) dives, and freshman
Lesly Mendoza (Passaic, N.J./Paramus Catholic) was the winner of the 200 fly (2:29.90).
In the 200 medley relay, McKay, Kuchin, Mendoza and Hartwell posted a winning time of 1:57.29, and
Caitlin Rotondo (Brick, N.J./Methacton),
Rebecca Vinch (Lawrenceville, N.J./Lawrence),
Tara Graham (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Hills) and McKay won the 200 free relay (1:49.12).
William Paterson will spend part of its winter break training in Curacao, Netherlands Antilles, Jan. 3-11.
