William Paterson saw its season come to an end with a 2-0 loss in the first round of the ECAC Metro Region Tournament.
Box Score

WAYNE, N.J. – Junior Jenna Godwin scored both Cougar goals as fifth-seeded Kean (12-7) defeated fourth-seeded William Paterson (10-7-1) 2-0 Nov. 12 in the first round of the ECAC Women's Soccer Metro Region Tournament.

The Cougars will advance to play the winner of the Stevens Tech/Drew first-round contest in the ECAC Tournament semifinals Saturday, Nov. 15, at a time and location to be determined.

Despite a few first-half chances, neither team could get on to the scoreboard until the 57th minute, when Kean's Amanda Pitts hit the post and Godwin finished the loose ball in front of the empty net.

Twenty-one minutes later, Pitts drew William Paterson junior goalkeeper Meaghan Baker (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls) well off her line and dropped a pass back to Godwin, who looped a shot over the heads of four Pioneer defenders, making it a 2-0 score during the 78th minute.

Sophomore Leandra Russo made six saves for Kean, while Baker had two stops.

Pitts had the Cougars' best opportunity of the first half, streaking up the field on a breakaway in the 18th minute before Baker came off her line and broke it up. The Pioneers looked like they might break the scoring open during the 38th minute when senior Amanda Kurdyla (Denville, N.J./Morris Knolls) played a ball into the box, but Samantha Flynn's (Lindenwold, N.J./Lindenwold) shot was saved, and Drea Wagoner's (Little Falls, N.J./Passaic Valley) follow was blocked.
