WAYNE, N.J. – Two quick scores early in the second half helped the No. 14 William Paterson field hockey team (13-3) pull away for its seventh straight win, a 4-0 home victory against Widener (6-10) Oct. 25 at Wightman Stadium. 
Sophomore 
Amanda Sheehan (Boonton, N.J./Boonton) scored her fourth goal of the year off a penalty corner during the 11th minute, connecting on a 
Meghan Hall (Turnersville, N.J./Washington Twp.) pass to give the Pioneers the early 1-0 advantage. William Paterson outshot Widener 6-1 during the opening period, and owned a 6-0 edge in penalty corners. 
The Pioneers added a pair of goals during a 40-second span early in the second half. Hall broke down the right side of the field and passed to the front of the goal, where a sprinting 
Christina Ayusa (Runnemede, N.J./Triton) got her stick onto it before colliding with charging goalie Megan Purcell, scoring her 10th goal of the year and making it a 2-0 game with 29:52 remaining. Hall then found the back of the cage at the 29:12 mark, sliding the ball between Purcell's pads for her team-leading 17th score of the season. 
Junior 
Chelsea Winkelspecht (Sicklerville, N.J./Washington Twp.) finished the scoring with 10:00 to play, finishing a 
Lauren Duensing (Lincoln Park, N.J./Boonton) shot that hit the crossbar of the cage and bounced out two feet in front of the goal. For Winkelspecht, it was her ninth goal of the season and her fifth in the last three games. 
Junior 
Christina Auger (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Hills) made one save in goal for the Pioneers, while Purcell had six stops for Widener. William Paterson finished with a final 15-2 shot advantage and 9-3 edge in corners. 
William Paterson will return to action Thursday, Oct. 30, against No. 19 Wilkes at 7:00 p.m.
