Box Score

WAYNE, N.J. – Junior Chelsea Winkelspecht (Sicklerville, N.J./Washington Twp.) netted a hat trick while teammate Amanda Sheehan (Boonton, N.J./Boonton) added two goals, helping the No. 14 William Paterson field hockey team (12-3, 3-2 NJAC) cruise to a 6-0 conference victory against visiting Ramapo (6-9, 1-3 NJAC) Oct. 21 at Wightman Stadium.

Junior goalkeeper Christina Auger (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Hills) needed just four saves in collecting her fourth shutout for the Pioneers, who are now on a six-game winning streak. Winkelspecht is now tied for second on the Pioneers with nine goals.

William Paterson's offense quickly took the lead after back-to-back unassisted scores.

Senior Meghan Hall (Turnersville, N.J./Washington Twp.), the Pioneers' leading scorer and 2007 first-team all-region and all-NJAC selection, flicked in her 16th goal of the year after a corner 1:21 into the contest, and Winkelspecht followed with a score from the right edge in the sixth minute, handing William Paterson a 2-0 lead.

Sheehan then tallied her first of two goals, connecting on a Hall assist during the 21st minute as William Paterson raced out to a 3-0 advantage.

William Paterson continued its attack during the second half, as Winkelspecht found the back of the cage again at the 50:00 mark on an unassisted goal.

Nine minutes later, senior Tina Londino (Gloucester City, N.J./Gloucester City) assisted on Winkelspecht's third and final goal to complete the hat trick. Sheehan finished the scoring off a feed from Hall, her second assist of the night and ninth this season.

Junior goalkeeper Meg Tierney recorded eight saves for Ramapo in the loss.

William Paterson will play a non-conference home game against Widener, Saturday, Oct. 25, at 1:00 p.m.
