Box Score

WAYNE, N.J. – William Paterson (10-1-1, 4-1-1 NJAC) continued its dominance against New Jersey City University (7-7, 0-6 NJAC), scoring within the first three minutes and racing to a 5-0 victory in women's soccer action Oct. 15 at Pioneer Soccer Park.

William Paterson held a 27-1 shot advantage as it improved to 12-0-1 all time against the Gothic Knights.

William Paterson opened the scoring 2:35 into the first half, when Ali Ruddy (Wayne, N.J. / Wayne Valley) lobbed a chip shot to a running Sophie Hart-Ruderman (Maplewood, N.J./Columbia) along the right side of the field. The freshman speedster ran onto the ball and sailed her third goal of the year into the left-corner of the net, giving William Paterson a 1-0 lead.

Ruddy then registered her second goal of the year during the 11th minute. The sophomore midfielder was up against two defenders when she made a quick move to her right and created enough space to lace a shot left of center to hand William Paterson a 2-0 lead.

The Pioneers were in control throughout the first period as they held the Gothic Knights without a shot.
Two midfielders for the Pioneers recorded their first goals of the season during the second half. In the 64th minute, Drea Wagoner (Little Falls, N.J/Passaic Valley) slipped a shot inside the right post to convert a cross from Amanda Kurdyla (Denville, N.J./Morris Knolls). Kurdyla, the 2007 NJAC Player of the Year, then recorded her 15th goal this season less than a minute later, as she edged a shot past the hands of a running NJCU defender and into the empty net.

Freshman Jessica Bertoli (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls) posted her first career goal to finish the scoring during the 90th minute.

Junior Meaghan Baker (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls) saved the only shot by NJCU to earn her fifth shutout of the year for the Pioneers. Sophomore goalkeeper Kelly Reilly (Pennsville, N.J./Pennsville Memorial) stopped 10 shots in the loss.

William Paterson will play at The College of New Jersey Saturday, Oct. 18, at 11:00 a.m. NJCU will play at Rowan Oct. 18 at 7:00 p.m.
