Jonathan Donado's (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) penalty kick in the 94 th minute gave the William Paterson men's soccer team (2-1) a 3-2 victory in overtime against visiting Baruch (0-3) Sept. 5 at Pioneer Soccer Park.
The penalty kick, awarded to William Paterson in the fourth minute of extra time, resulted from a Baruch handball inside the box. Donado capitalized on the opportunity with a well-placed shot, winning the game for the Pioneers.
Baruch took a 1-0 lead in the 12 th minute when sophomore forward Freddy Carasco finished a pass from senior midfielder Caner Yilmaz. The Pioneers retaliated in the 31 st minute when freshman defender

Less than seven minutes later, Carasco found the back of the net again, regaining a 2-1 lead for the Bearcats. Strawman clinched his second goal of the night in the 40 th minute off a header from a corner kick by junior defender
Josh Lenoff (Scotch Plains, N.J./St. Benedict's Prep), leaving the game tied 2-2 for the remainder of regulation time.
“The best thing about tonight's match was the guys' resolve to win,” said head coach
Brian Woods. “The coaches really appreciate the determination, and it will surely bode well for us in the future.”
The Pioneers will compete this weekend at the Richard Stockton Seashore Classic, playing Hunter on Sept. 7 at 6:00 p.m. and SUNY-Farmingdale on Sept. 8 at 1:00 p.m. The team will host its next home match on Wednesday, Sept. 12, against FDU-Florham at 4:00 p.m.
