Peragallo Scores Lone Goal in 2-1 Loss to Rowan

The Pioneers fell to Rowan, 2-1, in NJAC action.

WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson men's soccer team (6-5, 1-4 NJAC) fell to visiting Rowan (5-4-1, 1-3-1 NJAC), 2-1, Sept. 29 in New Jersey Athletic Conference play at Pioneer Soccer Park.

Sophomore midfielder Michael Pascale opened the scoring at 42:42 of the first half, taking a ball from sophomore defender James Cox and driving a low shot into the left side of the net.

Less than three minutes later, sophomore midfielder Dan Peragallo (North Brunswick, N.J./North Brunswick) buried his first career goal when a blast from freshman forward Julian Valerio (Manalapan, N.J./Manalapan) deflected off the crossbar and back into the box, and Peragallo finished the rebound to tie the score.

It remained a 1-1 match until the 75th minute when senior midfielder Peter Malkmus finished a deflected shot from freshman forward Daniel Coviello, regaining the lead for the Profs.

Senior goalkeeper David Casper (Franklin, N.J./Timothy Christian) made one save for the Pioneers. Senior keeper Kevin Nuss made seven saves for the Profs and improved his record to 4-2-1.

The Pioneers will begin a three-match road swing Wednesday, Oct. 3, at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at 7:45 p.m.
