Winkelspecht's Three Points, Save Lead WP to 3-1 Win

ST. DAVIDS, Pa. – Sophomore Chelsea Winkelspecht (Sicklerville, N.J./Washington Twp.) provided three points as well as a save of a penalty stroke for the William Paterson field hockey team (5-4, 0-1 NJAC) in a 3-1 victory at Eastern (6-3) Sept. 25.

Winkelspecht started the scoring with an unassisted strike in the 16th minute, which was followed by an unassisted goal from Christina Ayusa (Runnemede, N.J./Triton) five minutes later.

Sophomore Amber Scott (Palmyra, N.J./Palmyra) finished a Winkelspecht pass in the 42nd minute to push the Pioneers ahead, 3-0. Eastern's lone goal of the day came in the 54th minute, unassisted.

Winkelspecht helped keep the score at 3-1 when she came into goal and saved an Eastern penalty stroke at the 61:00 mark. Sophomore Christina Auger (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Hills) made eight saves for the Pioneers in the cage.

William Paterson will return to action Friday, Sept. 28, at home against Richard Stockton at 7:00 p.m.
