WAYNE, N.J. – Megan Pietrunti's goal with 46 seconds remaining gave fourth-seeded Montclair State (14-6) a 1-0 victory at top-seeded William Paterson (13-7) in the ECAC Mid-Atlantic Tournament semifinals Nov. 10.
Pietrunti connected on a penalty corner pass from Megan Walsh to score the game's lone goal just 46 seconds before the two teams would have begun overtime. The Red Hawks owned a 10-3 advantage in shots during the contest, and a 13-2 edge in penalty corners.
Pioneer goalie Christina Auger (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Hills) made seven saves for WP, while Jacquie Supko had one save for Montclair.
MSU will host FDU-Florham in the ECAC Mid-Atlantic Tournament championship game Sunday, Nov. 11, at 2:00 p.m.
William Paterson finished the season with a 13-7 overall record, and placed third in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) standings with a 4-2 mark.
