WAYNE, N.J. – No. 5 The College of New Jersey (12-2, 3-0 NJAC) earned a 4-0 victory at William Paterson (10-5, 3-2 NJAC) in field hockey action Oct. 20 at Wightman Stadium.
Freshman Leigh Mitchell scored the game's first goal when she converted a Katie Reuther pass during a penalty corner, giving TCNJ a 1-0 edge with 25:50 remaining in the first half. Sixteen minutes later, Jenny Lubin struck a ball from Jackie Gelinas into the back of the cage, making it a 2-0 Lion advantage.
Mitchell scored her second goal of the game just 56 seconds into the second half off an assist from Jessica Falcone. TCNJ pushed ahead 4-0 nine minutes later when Reuther scored off of a corner, thanks to an assist from Ashleigh Pecherski .
Pioneer goalie Christina Auger (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Hills) made six saves, while Caitlin Gregory had one stop for the Lions.
William Paterson will return to action Wednesday, Oct. 24, at home against Susquehanna at 7:00 p.m.
