Belan Scores in 1-1 Draw at St. Joseph's-Long Island

Chris Belan scored the lone goal in a 1-1 draw at St. Joseph's-Long Island.

PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – Freshman Chris Belan (Howell, N.J./Freehold Twp.) scored the Pioneers' lone goal as the William Paterson men's soccer team (7-8-1) earned a 1-1 double-overtime tie at St. Joseph's-Long Island (10-3-2) Oct. 16.

Belan scored his first career goal, finding the back of the net in the 17th minute. The Eagles tied the score in the 50th minute when James Hermann converted a Frank Mancuso pass. Each team recorded two shots during the extra time, but neither one could score the game winner.

WP goalkeeper David Casper (Franklin, N.J./Timothy Christian) made five saves for the Pioneers.

William Paterson will return to action Saturday, Oct. 20, at Rutgers-Newark at 7:00 p.m.
