CAMDEN, N.J. (OCTOBER 14, 2006) - A Jay Hooper (Franklin, N.J./Franklin) goal in the 63rd minute lifted William Paterson (6-7-1, 2-4 NJAC) to a 1-0 victory at Rutgers-Camden (9-4-3, 4-2-1 NJAC) Oct. 14.

The Scarlet Raptors, ranked seventh in the most recent National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Metro Region Poll, were outshot by the Pioneers, 17-5. Hooper broke the scoreless tie when he cleaned up a rebound of a Mark Brzyzek (Wallington, N.J./Wallington) shot, giving WPU the victory.

Junior David Casper (Franklin, N.J./Timothy Christian) made four saves in goal to earn the shutout for the Pioneers.

"It's a great feeling to get this win, and the players are very excited," said WPU 15th-year head coach Brian Woods. "Now we will look to build off this result over our next three games."
