PURCHASE, N.Y. (OCTOBER 12, 2006) -- The William Paterson field hockey team won its third straight game, a 3-0 victory at Manhattanville Oct. 12.

Amie Shannon (Millville, N.J./Millville) started the scoring with a penalty corner goal in the 21st minute, followed by a Chelsea Winkelspecht (Sicklerville, N.J./Washington Twp.) strike 41 seconds before halftime. Katie Jo Cipriani (Thorofare, N.J./West Deptford) scored the final goaloff a penalty corner in the 54th minute for the Pioneers off , who imptroved to 9-4 on the season.

Senior Grace Browne (Hackensack, N.J./Hackensack) made nine saves for the shutout.

"We started to execute our short passing game, which allowed us to manipulate the field very well," said third-year WPU head coach Lindsay Bard. "Some of our players who had been struggling really stepped up tonight. We were able to possess the ball very well, and Grace Brown had a great game in goal tonight and came up with some outstanding saves."
