VandeVrede pitched a complete-game gem, striking out seven Red Hawks during a 16-3 victory against Montclair State April 17. The senior scattered seven hits over 9.0 innings, and registered four strikeouts during the game’s first two frames, all while allowing just one walk. Two of the three runs he gave up were with two outs in the top of the ninth and the Pioneers leading, 16-1. The victory improved his season record to 3-3 and his ERA to 5.52.
