WAYNE, N.J. – Women’s swimming senior Grace McKay (Fair Lawn, N.J./Fair Lawn) was named the William Paterson Pioneer of the Week Feb. 23.
McKay had an outstanding meet at the Metropolitan Championships Feb. 20-22, establishing four new individual school records, competing on four school-record relays, posting NCAA Championships B qualifying times in three events, and advancing to a total of seven A Finals.
She established new school records in the 50 free (24.48), 100 free (53.42), 100 back (57.73) and 100 fly (58.39), and helped lead the Pioneers to new best times in the 200 free (1:40.28), 400 free (3:39.85), 200 medley (1:50.69) and 400 medley (4:04.02) relays.
McKay was second in the 100 back (58.89), third in the 200 back (2:09.17) and fifth in the 100 fly (58.71) A Finals. She also helped the 200 free (1:40.28), 400 free (3:41.19), 200 medley (1:50.69), and 400 medley (4:04.02) relays finish fifth in the A Finals. Her times in the 100 back, 100 fly and 200 back were good enough to exceed the NCAA Championships B qualifying times.
