WAYNE, N.J. – Sophomore baseball outfielder Mike Abate (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Hills) was named the April 13 William Paterson Pioneer of the Week.
Abate hit .429 (12-28) during six starts last week with a .607 slugging percentage, .467 on-base percentage, five steals, a triple, one home run, four RBI and eight runs scored. He went 2-for-5 and crossed the plate twice against Montclair State April 10, then finished 3-for-5 with a homer, two steals, a pair of RBI and three runs scored during a 12-11, 11-inning victory at Stockton April 11. He also was a combined 5-for-9 with a pair of steals and two runs scored during a doubleheader April 12 at The College of New Jersey.
