WAYNE, N.J. – Softball sophomore pitcher Gabrielle Castelli (Cedar Grove, N.J./Cedar Grove) was named the March 23 William Paterson Pioneer of the Week.
Castelli posted a 3-1 record and 0.45 ERA in four appearances (two starts), allowing nine hits and four runs (one earned) over 15.2 innings of work while registering 12 strikeouts without issuing a walk. She scattered five hits over 4.0 innings, surrendering three runs (one earned) with two strikeouts during a 7-3 win against Utica March 16. Castelli tossed 3.0 hitless innings of relief in a 2-1 victory against UMass Boston March 18, and she pitched a complete-game shutout, striking out five and giving up two hits during a 3-0 win against Wisconsin-Stout March 19.
