WAYNE, N.J. – Football freshman quarterback Joe Salame (Lodi, N.J./Lodi) was named the William Paterson Pioneer of the Week for Oct. 10.
In his first college action, Salame started and went 10-for-19 for 186 yards and two touchdowns against Rowan Oct. 8, also picking up a score on ground. He helped the Pioneers mount a comeback from 20-0 deficit to 21-20 lead with 49-yard and 29-yard touchdown passes to Mick Paye (Lumberton, N.J./Rancocas Valley Regional). His one-yard run off left tackle tied the score at 20-20, and the ensuing PAT gave WP a 21-20 lead with 8:07 left.
