WAYNE, N.J. – Softball senior pitcher/first baseman Jenna Vitale (Kenilworth, N.J./David Brearley) was named the William Paterson Pioneer of the Week for March 14.

 

Vitale hit .500 (6-12) with two doubles, three RBI and four runs scored, and was 2-0 inside the circle with a 0.50 ERA, allowing three runs (one earned) and 11 hits in 14.0 innings while striking out nine and walking six. She went 2-for-2 with a double, RBI and two runs scored while pitching a complete game (five hits, four strikeouts, four walks) during a 6-1 win against Geneva (Pa.) March 12. Vitale was 2-for-4 with a RBI in an 8-1 victory against Westminster (Pa.) March 13, and allowed six hits and two unearned runs while going 1-for-3 at the plate with a double, RBI and two runs scored during a 5-2 win against No. 17 Illinois Wesleyan March 13. That double allowed Vitale to match the WP career record of 42 established by Diane Naugle (1998-2001).
