Field Hockey’s Stetser, Raftopoulos Named NFHCA National Scholars of Distinction

WAYNE, N.J. – William Paterson sophomore forward Katie Stetser (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West) and freshman back Lilly Raftopoulos (Freehold, N.J./Freehold Boro) were honored as Zag Sports/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III Scholars of Distinction, thanks to their excellence in the classroom.
 
Student-athletes selected as Scholars of Distinction have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.90 or higher through the first semester of the 2015-16 academic year.
 
Stetser was named a Scholar of Distinction for the second straight year, and the communication disorders major has started in 13 of 21 career appearances, posting four goals and an assist for nine points.
 
A management major, Raftopoulos appeared in four contests this fall as a rookie, making one start.
William Paterson previously received the 2015 NFHCA Division III National Academic Team Award, as the team grade point average exceeded 3.0 during the Fall 2015 semester. It marked the fourth straight year that WP has received this accolade. Additionally, 10 Pioneers were selected to the National Academic Squad after achieving a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the Fall 2015 semester.
