PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The William Paterson women's swimming and diving team ended the season strong as it finished seventh out of the 11 Division III teams competing at the Metropolitan Championships Feb. 22 at Rutgers University.
Sophomore
Vera Blazevska (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) added her name to the WP record book for the fourth time this weekend as she swam a school record in the 200 breast preliminary race (2:22.32), a time that exceeds the B Cut for the NCAA Championships. She later finished second in the A Final (2:22.69). Blazevska had previously set the school record in the 400 IM, 100 breast and 50 breast at Mets.
Senior
Sheri Brino (Ogdensburg, N.J./Wallkill Valley Regional) swam an impressive 19:57.77 in the 1,650 free to claim 19th overall. She also competed in the 200 back (2:22.10), good for eighth in the C Final.
Junior
Hannah Hillebrand (Stony Point, N.Y./North Rockland) finished fourth overall in the three-meter dive (359.95).
Junior
Brittany English (Branchville, N.J./High Point Regional), freshman
Kacie Holt (Belleplain, N.J./ Cape May Tech), Blazevska and Brino teamed up in the 400 free relay (3:54.73) to finish sixth in the B Final.
