Hackett Repeats as NJAC Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Year, Leads Five WP Honorees

Senior Marcus Hackett earned his second consecutive NJAC Defensive Player of the Year award.
PITMAN, N.J. -- William Paterson senior back Marcus Hackett (Montclair, N.J./Immaculate Conception) repeated as the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Year, leading a list of five Pioneer honorees announced by the league office Nov. 4. Sophomore goalkeeper Mike Diacheysn (Nutley, N.J./Nutley), junior midfielder Juan Sebastian Londono (Morristown, N.J./Morristown), senior midfielder Rafael Marques (Woodland Park, N.J./Passaic Valley Regional) and junior back Aken Pierre (North Plainfield, N.J./St. Benedict's Prep) were all honorable-mention selections.
 
Hackett, the 2013 NJAC Defensive Player of the Year, also was selected to the 2014 All-NJAC First Team, marking the fourth straight year he was acknowledged as an all-league performer (2013 and 2012 All-First Teams, 2011 All-Second Team). Hackett leads WP with 10 goals (seventh in NJAC), 21 points (eighth in conference) and four game-winning goals (tied-fifth in league) this fall, starting 17 of 18 matches. He also rates eighth in goals/match (0.56) and ninth in points/match (1.17) in the conference statistics. In 75 career contests (70 starts), Hackett has posted 26 goals and six assists for 58 points.

Diacheysn earned his first all-conference accolade after compiling a 1.07 goals-against average (fourth in NJAC), .743 save percentage, 52 saves (tied-seventh in league) and four shutouts (tied-fourth in conference) while starting 17 contests. In 32 career matches, he owns a 1.29 GAA, .753 save percentage and eight shutouts.

Londono started 17 of 18 matches during his first season as a Pioneer, contributing three goals and a team-best five assists (tied-10th in conference) for 11 points.

Marques also picks up his first all-conference award, providing an assist while starting all 19 matches. In 57 career contests (28 starts), he has tallied a goal and three assists.

Pierre was an honorable-mention all-NJAC pick a year ago, and this fall he has started 18 of 19 matches and has posted two goals and an assist. In 53 career contests (42 starts), he has collected six goals and two assists for 14 points.
