Former Pioneer Receives Athletic Training Scholarship

Former Pioneer Wes Ostrzycki was awarded the Eastern Athletic Trainers' Association (EATA) Kent Scriber Scholarship Award.
WAYNE, N.J. – Former William Paterson men's soccer midfielder Wes Ostrzycki (Edison, N.J./Edison) was awarded the prestigious Eastern Athletic Trainers' Association (EATA) Kent Scriber Scholarship Award at the group's annual convention Jan. 10-13 in Mashantucket, Conn.

Ostrzycki was the sole recipient chosen from among the District 1 (Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut) and District 2 (New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland) candidates. Additionally, he represented WP's Athletic Training Education Program at the EATA's Student Quiz Bowl event.

Seeing the pitch for the Pioneers during the 2011 and 2012 seasons after transferring from Monmouth University, Ostrzycki was named the winner of William Paterson Athletics' 2013 Ralph E. Smith Award, given to the graduating senior student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade point average. A member of the 2012-13 New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) All-Academic First Team and a Dean's List student every semester, he owns a 3.899 cumulative GPA as an athletic training major. Ostrzycki started in 36 of 37 career contests as a two-year Pioneer, collecting two goals and an assist.
