Biddle Signs with Philadelphia Soul Arena Football Team

Former Pioneer Stand Out Will Enter Rookie Season in the AFL

Former William Paterson football player Leer Biddle signed a contract with the Philadelphia Soul Arena Football Team on April 25.
Philadelphia, Pa.– Former William Paterson cornerback Leer Biddle (Sicklerville, N.J./Lenape) signed with the Philadelphia Soul Arena Football Team on April 25.  Biddle will enter his first season in the AFL at the defensive back position.

“Leer has shown us quality defensive skills,” said Soul head coach Doug Plank. “He has great agility and solid coverage on receivers. I think he'll add to our already solid defensive corps.”

A member of the 2010 D3football All-America, D3football All-East Region and All-New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) First Teams, as well as a two-time second-team all-NJAC selection (2008-09), Biddle made 38 tackles (26 solo) while starting all 10 games during the 2010 season. He paced the Pioneers with four blocked kicks, adding four pass breakups, a fumble forced and a 22-yard fumble return for a touchdown (vs. Montclair State, 11/13/10). A starter in all 40 games during his career, he registered 158 tackles (127 solo, 4.5 for loss), eight interceptions, 21 pass breakups, one fumble forced and two fumbles recovered.

Biddle participated in the first-annual FCS Senior Scout Bowl Dec. 11, 2010, earning an invitation to that event based on his performance at the Division III Football Senior Classic held Dec. 3, 2010 in Salem, Va. He contributed an interception, and after the North took a 20-18 lead thanks to a field goal with two seconds remaining, he cut off a lateral of the South Team's kickoff return and ran it back 35 yards for a touchdown and the final points of the 26-18 victory.
