PITMAN, N.J. – Senior forward
Michelle Marabondo (Kenvil, N.J./Roxbury) was named the 2012 New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Women's Soccer Co-Offensive Player of the Year, one of five Pioneers honored by the league office Oct. 30.
Marabondo garnered a spot on the All-NJAC First Team, while senior midfielders
Laela Brock (Paramus, N.J./Paramus) and
Nicole Kufel (Oradell, N.J./River Dell Regional) earned selections to the All-Second Team. Junior forward
Sheray Anthony (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West) and senior forward
Erika Juricic (East Windsor, N.J./Hightstown) were honorable-mention honorees.
Receiving her third straight first-team all-conference award (2010-12), Marabondo leads the league with 23 goals (sixth in Division III) and 53 points (fifth nationally), adding seven assists (tied-third in league). Also ranked among the NJAC leaders in points/match (2.79, first, 19th in Division III), goals/match (1.21, first, 16th nationally), game-winning goals (six, first, 10th in Division III) and assists/match (0.37, tied-fourth), Marabondo broke the WP single-season records for both goals and points earlier this season. In 76 career matches, she ranks second in school history with 62 goals, 19 game-winning goals and 142 points, and is tied for fifth with 18 assists.
A second-team all-conference selection in 2010 and an honorable-mention honoree in 2011, Brock is tied for first in the NJAC with eight assists and is seventh in the league with 26 points, adding nine goals (tied-eighth in conference). Also second in the league in assists/match (0.44), seventh in points/match (1.44) and tied for ninth in goals/match (0.50), Brock has 18 goals and 18 assists (tied-fifth in WP history) in 76 career matches.
Kufel was an honorable-mention all-NJAC pick last fall in her first season at WP after transferring from Community College of Rhode Island. This year, she has tallied a goal and an assist while starting all 19 matches, and in two seasons she has collected two goals and an assist in 34 contests.
Anthony is a first-time all-NJAC honoree after ranking fourth for the Pioneers with nine points (4 g, 1 a). In 50 career matches, she has 13 goals and seven assists.
Juricic garnered her first all-conference award after tallying eight goals and six assists for 22 points. Tied for fifth in assists, ninth in points and tied for 10th in assists/match (0.32) in the NJAC, Juricic has registered 10 goals and seven assists in 29 matches as a Pioneer after transferring from Mercer County Community College.
William Paterson is 9-8-2 overall and 5-4 in league play this season, reaching the first round of the NJAC Tournament.
