WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson men's (23-2, 12-1 NJAC) and women's (24-1, 12-1 NJAC) basketball teams remained in the top 10 of the Division III national rankings Feb. 23, as the Pioneer men were 10th in the D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll, and the Pioneer women were eighth in both the USA Today/ESPN/Women's Basketball Coaches Association and the D3hoops.com Top 25 Polls.
William Paterson is one of three Division III schools to currently have both of its basketball programs rated among the top 25 in the country by D3hoops.com, and one of two to have both squads ranked in the top 10 (Washington Univ., No. 1 Men, No. 6 Women; Carthage, No. 16 Men, No. 10 Women).
The Pioneer men saw their school-record 20-game win streak come to an end with a 55-46 loss at Rutgers-Newark Feb. 15. The top overall seed, William Paterson will host North No. 3 Seed Ramapo in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Tournament semifinals Wednesday, Feb. 24, at 7:00 p.m. If the Pioneers win they will host the championship game Saturday, Feb. 27, at 2:00 p.m.
The Pioneer women, winners of 10 straight and the North Division's top seed in the NJAC Tournament, will host No. 2 South Seed Rowan in a semifinal contest Tuesday, Feb. 23, at 7:00 p.m. If William Paterson wins, it will advance to the final Friday, Feb. 26, at 7:00 p.m. at the site of the highest remaining seed.
