WAYNE, N.J. – In lieu of admission charges at the William Paterson University basketball doubleheader against Rutgers-Camden on Saturday, Jan. 23, the Pioneers are asking all those in attendance to instead donate to the American Red Cross Haiti Relief and Development Fund. Donations will be accepted throughout the afternoon at the Rec Center on campus (men's game at 1:00 p.m., women's game at 3:00 p.m.).
In addition to the Red Cross donation effort, William Paterson will be celebrating the previously scheduled “Take a Kid to the Game Day” and “National Girls and Women in Sports Day.” The first 150 girls/women in attendance will receive a free NGWSD T-shirt. The Pioneers will honor their female student-athletes at halftime of the men's game, and at 2:00 p.m., there will be a special presentation conducted about Title IX in the Rec Center Auxiliary Room (light lunch/refreshments served). Following the women's game against the Scarlet Raptors, a free basketball clinic will be conducted on the court for kids of all ages and abilities.
