Five Members of Women's Soccer Team Honored on All-NJAC Team

Amanda Kurdyla was named the NJAC Co-Offensive Player of the Year.
PITMAN, N.J. – William Paterson senior forward Amanda Kurdyla (Denville, N.J./Morris Knolls) was named the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Women's Soccer Co-Offensive Player of the Year, one of five Pioneers to be honored by the league office Nov. 5.

Kurdyla was named to the All-First Team for the third straight year, while seniors Dana Bertoli (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Hills) and Natale Buongiorno (Northvale, N.J./Northern Valley-Old Tappan) and sophomore Ali Ruddy (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) earned spots on the All-NJAC Second Team. Sophomore Vikki Cicak (Wharton, N.J./Morris Knolls) rounded out the group, earning honorable-mention laurels.

A three-time first-team all-conference selection (2006-08), as well as the 2007 Offensive Player of the Year, the 2005 NJAC Rookie of the Year and a member of the 2005 All-NJAC Second Team, Kurdyla is the Pioneers' all-time leader in goals (66) and points (149). She leads William Paterson this season with 16 goals and 35 points, including six game-winning goals, to rank second in GWG, tied for second in goals and tied for fifth in points on the WP single-season charts. On the NJAC charts, she is tied for first in game-winning goals, tied for third in goals and points, and fifth in goals/game (0.94) and points/game (2.06). She shared this year's Offensive Player of the Year award with Rowan's Jess Babice.

Bertoli earned her first all-NJAC award this fall after starting all 17 matches and posting a pair of assists. The senior back has started 45 of 67 career matches, compiling a total of 10 points (2 g, 6 a).

Buongiorno earned her second straight bid to the All-NJAC Team after receiving first-team accolades a year ago. This fall, the senior started all 17 matches as center back and contributed an assist, and during her career the 2007 NSCAA third-team all-region pick has started 66 of 67 matches and has tallied six assists.

A sophomore midfielder, Ruddy earned her first all-league selection after starting 14 of 16 matches this fall and posting five points (2 g, 1 a). A year ago, she tallied four assists while starting 11 of 12 matches.

Cicak also is a first-time honoree after starting all 17 matches this fall and scoring two goals, both game winners. As a freshman last year, the midfielder started 17 matches and contributed eight points (3 g, 2 a).
