David Leshnower joined the William Paterson swimming and diving staff as a volunteer assistant coach for the 2021-22 season.
Leshnower has coached at Mountain Lakes High School since 1992, winning 12 state and 14 county titles while mentoring 16 all-Americans. Named the 2007 National Federation High School (NFHS) State and National Coach of the Year, he helped Mountain Lakes become the fourth program in state history to win 5+ consecutive titles and the sixth program to win state titles for both genders during the same season.
He has coached 20 national qualifiers during his time at Lakeland Hills YMCA (1992-present), and has worked with Fayson Lakes Swim Club, Cruiser Club Summer Swim Team and Mountain Lakes Summer Swim Team.
A physical education and health teacher at Mountain Lakes since 1992, Leshnower swam two seasons at East Stroudsburg University. In addition to swimming, he has also coached the Lakers’ football, boys and girls lacrosse and tennis teams.
