The Pioneers’ all-time leading scorer and a member of the William Paterson Hall of Fame, Michelle Jones begins her second season as an assistant coach during the 2009-10 season, working primarily with the backcourt players.

Jones, who played at William Paterson from 1987-91, still owns the career top marks in scoring (2,048), assists (416), field goals made (648), three-point field goals made (286, currently 12th in Division III history), three-point field-goal percentage (.418) and free throws made (466). A 1991 regional All-American as well as the NJAC Player of the Year, Jones was the 1988 ECAC Rookie of the Year and she remains the Pioneers’ single-season record holder for points (689, 1990-91), three-pointers attempted (212, 1990-91), three-point field-goal percentage (.434, 75-173, 1989-90) and free-throw percentage (.849, 1990-91), as well as the single-game scoring (55, vs. Jersey City State, 1/9/91) and three-pointers made (15, vs. Jersey City State, 1/9/91) leader.

Inducted into the William Paterson University Alumni Association Athletic Hall of Fame in 1996, Jones served in the U.S. Army Reserve as a military police office (1995-2003) and as a police office in the Township of Wayne Police Department (19996-2005).

Jones currently owns a small business in Wayne, as well as working as a realtor and a substitute teacher in the Wayne School District. She completed a bachelor’s degree in exercise and movement science at William Paterson in 1993.
